Who we are
Herman Vantrappen is the Managing Director of Akordeon. Until 2012 he worked with the management consulting firm Arthur D. Little, where he was a Partner for 19 years, a member of the board of the global Strategy & Organization practice, and the Editor-in-Chief of the firm’s flagship journal Prism.
Herman has conducted numerous assignments for large and medium-sized clients in a diverse range of industrial and service sectors, including general manufacturing, automotive, electronics, medical products, life sciences, materials, chemicals, energy, construction, business services, social profit, non-profit and government. His clients are located in Europe, the US, the Middle East and South-East Asia.
He has authored numerous articles in a wide variety of journals, including the Harvard Business Review, MIT Sloan Management Review, Strategy & Leadership, Long-Range Planning, Nikkei Asian Review and Fortune. He is the coauthor of two books: “The Organization Design Guide” (Routledge, 2024) which provides a pragmatic framework for executives in search of a conclusive and efficient organization redesign process; and “Fad-Free Strategy” (Routledge, 2020) which provides rigorous methods to help executives make strategic choices confidently. He is also the author of the book “The Executive Action Writer” in which he advises businesspeople how to craft texts that will trigger the response they want from their target readers.
Herman Vantrappen holds an MBA from Tepper School of Business at Carnegie Mellon University (Pittsburgh, PA, USA) and an MS in Engineering from KU Leuven (Belgium).
